Release May 21st 2021!

Donna Herula’s third CD, Bang at the Door, includes 14 tracks – 11 original songs and 3 cover songs.  The physical CD includes a 12-page booklet with liner notes by blues writer and reviewer, Mark Thompson, pictures and lyrics from all of Donna’s original songs on the recording.

The music flows from acoustic blues through gospel, jazz and ragtime, to the electric Chicago blues style, with nods to New Orleans, folk and country influences.  Special guests include Anne Harris (violin), Daryl Davis (piano), Doug Hammer (piano), Bill Newton (harmonica), Tony Nardiello (singer/guitarist), and backup-singers Katherine Davis and Rebecca Toon.  The CD was produced by Jon Shain and recorded by FJ Ventre (also the upright bass player) at Good Luck Studio in Chapel Hill, NC.

Donna’s second CD includes 12 tracks – mostly solo guitar and a duo with harmonica player, John Jochem and Tony Nardiello (second guitar) on some songs.  The songs covered are Nighthawk’s earlier recordings when he played acoustic guitar and was known as Robert Lee McCollum and Robert Lee McCoy.

Donna’s first CD is a solo, acoustic blues album with 14 tracks including songs Future Blues, I’ve Got to Make a Change, Daddy Goodbye Blues, Nobody Knows You When You’re Down and Out, Police Dog Blues, Walking Blues, Vestapol, Hey Hey, The Blues Ain’t Nothin’ But, Big Road Blues, Trouble Everywhere I Roam …

featured on three tracks of Liz Mandeville’s CD, Clarksdale.

Documentary

Donna’s slide guitar playing was featured in a Dutch blues film documentary, “Cheesehead Blues” which was released in 2015.
