Class Description:
In this workshop, you will learn all you need to know to begin and advance your slide guitar playing and emotional expression. Songs will include “Death Letter Blues” by Son House as well as “You Got to Move” by Mississippi Fred McDowell. Bring your acoustic guitar and a slide. Tab and a recording of the Zoom workshop will be provided to workshop participants.
Workshop Instructor Bio:
Donna Herula is a blues fingerstyle and slide guitar teacher at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago and has also taught slide guitar at Blues and Swing Week at the Augusta Heritage Center of Davis & Elkins College.
She has performed at the Chicago Blues Festival and at the King Biscuit Blues Festival multiple times as a soloist and in a duo with her husband, Tony Nardiello. She is a Chicago Blues Hall of Fame Inductee and her latest album, Bang at the Door, was nominated by the Blues Blast Music Awards for best Acoustic Blues Album.
